Simulation of Wind Load on Pergola
As a producer, you would prefer to avoid a pergola that fails under strong winds. For a pergola manufacturer, we conducted a wind simulation to investigate how the pergola behaves under high wind loads.
A pergola manufacturer approached Caden with a request to conduct a wind study for one of their products. The goal of this study was to perform a strength analysis of a pergola in three different configurations:
- With 4 sides open
- With 1 long side closed by a glass panel
- With 1 long side and 1 short side closed by a glass panel
Based on this, a wind study was set up. All components were assigned the correct materials, and the connections and anchorages were properly applied to provide the most realistic representation. The wind load was set so that it came from the least favorable direction for each configuration. Based on the results of this wind study, a detailed report was prepared for the client.
