3D hatch

The safety hatch is used for safe descent via the existing ladder. It also serves as a secure barrier for the opening in the floor, both when open and closed. The hatch includes a manual and a sticker with instructions.

The hatch consists of a frame that is placed in the floor opening. Four panels are stored within the frame. By opening the top panel, the side panels can be unlocked, and then the bottom panel can be pulled up and locked into place. This fully encloses the floor opening safely. Through the access hatch, one can descend the ladder while using the safety railing. After use, the hatch can be completely folded back and the opening securely closed.
