3D Scan Form Plates

What if newly produced form plates break down much faster than the originals? That was the situation one of our clients encountered. Since their previous supplier of these plates had gone bankrupt, they had to find a new one. However, the new plates broke much faster.

Caden was then asked to perform a 3D scan of both the old and new form plates. These scans were overlaid and compared with millimeter precision. The goal of this study was to determine where the two plates differed in order to find a possible explanation for why the new form plates were breaking much more quickly.

Unfortunately, no significant differences were observed between the two 3D scans, which necessitated a more in-depth material-level analysis.
